Words and phrases used in this chapter shall have the meanings set forth in this Article. Words and phrases not defined in this chapter but defined elsewhere in the LDO or Town Code shall be given the meanings set forth there. Principles for computing sign area and sign height are given in the next section. All other words and phrases shall be given their common, ordinary meanings, unless the context clearly requires otherwise. Section headings or captions are for reference purposes only and shall not be used in the interpretation of this chapter. Illustrations and “principles of interpretation” included in the code shall be used in interpreting the relevant provisions, but where the text conflicts with an illustration or “stated principle,” the text shall control.
