Each page in the Town of Cary Land Development Code includes a row of buttons at the top of the right frame to aid in navigating through the Code “pages.” From left to right the five buttons are Intro, Previous, and Next and Up. The function of each button is explained below:
Intro This button is always “active” anywhere in the ordinances. Clicking on it will take you back to the introduction page you first see when you began. If you ever get disoriented or lost, you can always return to your starting point using this button.
Previous/Next The “Previous” and “Next” buttons allow you to browse through the Development Code the same way you would using the printed version – a “page” at a time. Although a major advantage of VIC over the printed Development Code is the ability to jump from one section to another in a non-linear freeform fashion, there are times where you need to read through several “pages” in a row. The “Previous” and “Next” buttons simply move you forward or backward through the Development Code, one screen “page” at a time.
Up The “Up” button allows you to quickly move upward through the hierarchical structure of the Ordinances content. It takes you up one level in the hierarchy from your current location. For example if you are viewing Sec. 6.3.2. General Setback Requirements, clicking the “Up” button would take you up one level to Sec. 6.3 Setback Measurements and Requirements. This makes it easier to move up quickly to the beginning of a section or chapter without having to “back” up sequentially through every page.
> When you are finished with this section -- Click the “Next” button at the top of the page to continue with the Using VIC instructions. The next section is “Left Frame Tabs.”
