The illustrative commentary is usually a short video-clip, or series of pictures/ graphics, accompanied by explanatory text. These are viewed in QuickTime™ format and require that you have QuickTime™ 5.0 or higher (QuickTime™ 6.0 preferred) installed on your computer. See the "Getting Started Instructions" if you need to install the Quicktime.™
A gray control bar along the bottom of the image allows you to control how you view the series of pictures or video clip. To play video-clips or quickly display the entire series of still images, simply click on the left arrow (“Play”) button.
To see images one at a time:
• Use the small right and left arrow buttons located on the right side of
the control bar to advance the images. Or
• Use the “popup” menu that lists how many pictures are in a series (i.e.
1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc.).
NOTE: If the image sequence or movie plays through by itself automatically, you need to change the Quicktime™ plugin settings. To do this click on the down-arrow button at the lower right corner of the gray control bar and choose “Plugin Settings” from the list. Uncheck the “Play movies automatically” option and close the dialog box. Now you can control the movies manually. You only have to do this once – the setting is for all Quicktime™ files in VIC.
